I’m thinking about leaving Winamp and switching to iTunes. Also considering replacing my Rio Karma with an iPod.

BRIEF SURVEY: What program do you use to play music, and what MP3 player do you own? Why did you choose these?

Yeah, great everyone, I’m glad you got an extra hour of sleep last night. Too bad it fucking gets dark at 5pm. This sucks.

Saw the New Amsterdams on Saturday night. Such a good show. Check them out on this tour if you get a chance.

Parties tomorrow? I’m working til 9 and need something to do. plz advise

  1. itunes. ipod. because they are very reliable, and if I throw it against the wall and it breaks, I can send it back and they send me a new one free of charge. and even though I only have a shuffle, I plan on getting one of the new ipods for $250. Its a good price…and I just like the look of them and the features they include moreso than other mp3 players.

  2. the nano?! i think nanos and minis are a waste of money. i could fill it within 5 seconds.

  3. no I’m getting the actual new iPod with the pictures and stuff on it…I think its a 30 gig. The Nano is nice looking but it only hold a bit more than my gay ass shuffle does. Whats the point? I want one that I can put everyone song in the entire world on. haha. and they got rid of the mini’s by the way. They replaced them with the Nano.

  4. Slap a 200 gig HD to the nano. /. had an article on it. and how are they a waste of money? not everyone has the elite privilage of downloading over 70 gigs of music, or the patience. They are not a waste of money, just practicle

  5. because for about $50 dollars more you can get almost 4x your space. and if you dish out that amounmt of money for an ipod in the first place might as well not fuck it up by getting the small trendy one.

  7. itunes and ipod. my family has always used apple everything, so it just seemed natural. plus they’re easy to use, there’s a lot of models to choose from, tons of accessories, and they are pretty much indestructible.

  12. Fuck MP3 players. Amish cats do not like your iPod. As far as computer players I use Windows Media Player, the sound quality is, believe it or not, superior to Winamp. I used Winamp for a while and the only thing its really got over WMP is that it uses less memory. But seriously, with 1-2gigs of RAM…who the fuck cares?

  15. iTunes and an iPod. I didn’t have much of a choice. That’s what I got for graduation. But I probably would’ve ended up with that anyways.

  18. you

    Comment by zig_mover — November 2, 2005 @ 10:11 pm

  19. iTunes is an extremely powerful program. you can make CDs from it, you can search out songs VERY VERY easily. you can really do anything. iPods are trendy, and sell themselves.

  23. if you’re getting an ipod, you can always use the winamp plugin here http://www.mlipod.com it lets you play through winamp and copy files FROM the ipod

    Comment by songkran — October 31, 2005 @ 3:43 pm

  24. i used that before, it’s still installed on my old computer. my girlfriend had an ipod and i didn’t want to install itunes. very useful.

  26. but it doesnt make SENSE to have 2 programs right now i have one program to rip, one to play, one to load songs to mp3 plzyer, etc. PS: http://www.livejournal.com/users/zig_mover/140559.html?thread=970767#t970767 get that, then you can use ipod with winamp. duh.

  28. I use both Winamp and iTunes, and I have an iPod mini. I got it for xmas last year, and even though I wanted something larger, it did the trick.

  29. i have an ipod! his name is johnny cash! i have itunes because it came with the ipod. i wanted an ipod because i was convinced by all the advertisement that i abosultely needed one. BEST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE, when i opened up the box christmas day, the ipod turned itself on and out came a majestic blue glowing (back)light. cue heavenly choirs, etc.

  31. winamp and dell dj. im in a land of my own i guess. itunes comes in handy, no denying that. i just hate change. as for the dell dj, mixed feelings. its not great, but i never wanted to be ‘that guy with the ipod’ thats just me.

    Comment by nomedigas — October 31, 2005 @ 8:55 pm

  32. you can have an ipod without being “that guy.” rules: 1. buy one because you researched products and decided it was the best option 2. don’t get a wrist strap, they’re ugly 3. don’t wear the headphoens just for attention my rio is sweet. the company sucks with aftermarket accessories, though, so no remote or anything. the ethernet dock is handy, and the built-in web site with java applet, so you can use it under linux. if it worked under itunes, i’d be set.

  33. Foobar and Ipod Foobar is not a system hog like itunes, and you can find moduals to let you connect the ipod and sync it with foobar (Foo_pod.dll). sure, out of the box foobar looks like shit, but reading up on it, you can make it look liek anything you want.

    Comment by overblast — October 31, 2005 @ 9:18 pm

  34. i just want it to go on record that i KNEW you would use foobar, because you’re a nerd.

  36. i use itunes, and an ipod. i chose it because i already knew the program and the player really well when i bought it.

    Comment by ilove_yourmom — November 1, 2005 @ 1:53 am

  37. apple publicly states that they make no money off the itunes music store, it’s just to sell ipods.

    Comment by zig_mover — November 2, 2005 @ 10:13 pm

  38. I use iTunes and I have an iPod because iPod is the only company that will hold the amount of songs that I need. ps. my ipod just broke today. hopefully i can fix this thing.

  46. haha, thanks for dinner! that was really so awesome. i liked that place. what was it called? that was a fun show, i’m glad i went, and totally didn’t even care that i had to pay to see it. i used to write these really long, descriptive entries that were pretty much “and then i did Z with A, B, and C, and blah blah etc etc,” but i stopped doing that, or else you definitely would have been name dropped. i’m at work and i’m really tired and bored 🙁
