  2. letter to the editor is my favorite part of the newspaper. sometimes people make good points, and other times it’s just crazy stuff written by my grandmother’s elderly friends. it’s ever changing!

  10. well written. 🙂 those greedy bastards. grrrr. making a living is one thing. Depriving people of WATER is quite another. *flicks them off* go you! 😀

  11. haha fucking awesome, and so true. I paid $4 for a smaller than normal sized gatorade that was WARM. not cool. maybe thats why I ended up in the hospital. hah

  12. The concert promoters could have done worse by also charging admission to the portable toilets provided for the concert attendees. Corporate Formula: Provide nothing to shade the fans to avoid the hot sun (or charge $10.00 for a disposable cardboard visor with logo), charge them $4.00 for drinking-water and another $4.00 for urinating it. This is not criminal, not even price-gouging, but rather capitalism. Your letter to the editor may be the beginning of a lifetime of controversy. Thanks for speaking out intellegently.

  13. there is a fine line between ‘capitalism’ and unethical business practices. without a doubt there should be a free water option. it would cost them next to nothing to have water coolers of tap water available at these dates. especially on the hottest day of the year, especially when you’re dealing with a large demographic of KIDS who aren’t old enough to work. Charging $4.00 for water in a confined area, when you have no choice but to buy the water or succomb to heat exhaustion because you cannot leave is criminal.

  14. Agreed. It is “criminal” in the everyday loose sense of the word. Unfortunately, it is not “actionable” in the strict law sense of the word, neither civil law actions nor criminal law actions, where “action” refers to lawsuits or formal complaints to a court of record. The letter to the newspaper editor does two things well: it succinctly diagnoses the problem, and it offers a practical solution. That distinguishes it from the majority of letters to the editor, which are often incoherent, biased and not constructive. Thanks for mentioning the fact of confinement and inability to leave the premises during the concert.

  16. While true, if there’s one thing I enjoy at work it’s watching the underagers drain their bodies of water while “rocking out” to shitty punk/rap bands only to find that bottled water costs $2 (tho we usually give it to them for free if we’re in a good mood).

  17. maybe, but 61 people went to the hospital. i really appreciated the water situation at pitchfork. i guess i was expecting Warped to be like that.

  18. Another check in the ‘retrospective reasons for not attending Warped Tour’ column.

  20. that wouldve been so nice. we broke a record for the heat here in buffalo at warped tour. i also got the worst sunburn of my life haha.

  21. hte only reason i survived is cause i was working for patent pending and they had their own cooler full of water, which they shared. i think i drank at least 10 bottles. that’s 40 bucks, which i know i didn’t have.
