fact: the new mountain goats ep is GREAT and makes me smile
fact2: ‘the office’ is funnier than any show i have ever watched, including seinfeld. i’m sorry.
i went to court yesterday (new friends, see the entry/newspaper clipping
it wasn’t ‘court’ as in a trial, but a meeting with a magistrate (i still had to navigate the courthouse, it was intimidating. one of the cops was there, and he read the police report, the best part was the kids part of the confession. and also watching his reaction as it was read– i could see his regret
the fucking lawyer was telling me they ‘had considered filing a COUNTER CLAIM’ because the whole thing was really all my fault since i pushed the kid away from me. what the fuck? i can’t believe they are here asking me to consider dropping the charges and yet have the goddamned AUDACITY to say something like that
i stepped out and thought about it and decided to let the whole thing go. even if i was “an eye for an eye” type of person, i’m sure he’s more than already paid for what he did. his MOM was there, and offering me a bribe to drop it.
don’t ask me why i did this. the entire incident probably has affected my life for 3 hours total since it happened (police report, post-incident laughter, changing band-aids, driving to courthouse). meanwhile this kid could lose his chance of going to college/having something like this fuck up his life. what do i want that for? for me to take this case any further would be malacious, worse than the original attack. i feel like i made the right decision.

neil you should have done what you did, and more. nothing gives anybody the right to do what that kid did… the sooner he learns that and the worse the consequences… the better off he will be in the long run. that kids life is headed down the drain… he’ll most likely won’t graduate high school, if he does… that’s all he will do. so as strange as it is… you helped him, a lot. you got his mom on his ass (who, chances are, previously showed no interest in her son’s life) and he now has a criminal record and will hopefully try and stay out of trouble now

neil i agree you did the right thing, and.. considering how unintelligent he sounded to be anyway, he’ll prbably fuck up his life in some other way down the road

I know what youre talking about. The meeting with the police and the guy thats there thats just below a judge. Its kind of akward and weird when the police read the report. You did a really nice thing by dropping the charges. Im sure that kid is really thankful and maybe it will teach him to maybe teach him not to be so careless. and the office is pretty funny. but i never know when its on. I still cant believe you got sick of the oc. Crazy boy.

Huh. Interesting. And good point about him getting enough shame from his family about the ordeal. There’s no need to jeapordize the kids future for a small scuffle. I mean, if the guy like, lobbed off an arm or a leg — then you’d have more right to take the guy down. Heh, the mom bribed you?

Audacity is the program I use to record music. Because I am too poor to buy a better program. I actually have some money. I just haven’t found something really great to spend it on yet.
